North Pole Blizzard Intensifies 1

1130Weather conditions at the North Pole are worsening. The Tracking Center says south winds are sustained around 35 mph with gusts reaching as high as 80 mph. Temperatures are hovering just below freezing, which is very unusual for the North Pole at any time of the year, but with the winds it feels much colder than it is.

Elf Grumbles, acting in Santa’s stead, has asked all non-essential personnel to stay indoors.

The bitter cold is not helping those outside awaiting Santa’s launch. They too have been ordered inside the sleigh barn for the next several hours or until conditions improve. According to Elf Billy, he says things will get worse before they get better.

The weather likely will not affect Santa’s launch. While Santa doesn’t like to leave in bad weather the reindeer like snow much better than rain and due to their speed they can quickly get above any storm they face.

It is not unusual for Santa to launch during a blizzard. In fact, we consider it quite normal because it happens most years.
