The North Pole closed down yesterday to celebrate Labor Day.

When I asked Santa why we celebrate Labor Day which is normally an American holiday he replied: “The elves work hard all year long to make Christmas possible. Taking a day to honor them and all of the other hard working people around the world is the least we can do.”

“In fact” Santa says “we started celebrating Labor Day here at the North Pole long before America did”.

The celebration this year included an end of summer cookout by Mrs. Claus with lots of smoked turkey legs and her world famous macaroni salad.

Elf Wally and his classic rock and roll band The Scissors held a concert in the town square. The crowd went crazy when they played their new song Born to Wrap. They also enjoyed their classics like Back in Red and Northern Lights Rising. The band ended the show with their biggest hit to date Snow Bird.

After the concert everyone headed over to the commons for a giant campfire. All of the different departments did skits and we had a giant sing along. Then after the campfire program there were plenty of supplies to make s’mores and tons of sugar cookies and hot chocolate for everyone to enjoy.

The party soon came to an end so everyone could get home and rest before the workshop reopened in the morning. It was a great way to end summer and ring in fall here at the North Pole.
