Operation Merry Christmas

Operation Merry ChristmasOperation Merry Christmas begins in just 10 weeks from today!

Hello, my name is Elf Trixie and I will be counting down the days and weeks ahead to Operation Merry Christmas.

Just what is Operation Merry Christmas?

First those of us living at the North Pole or around the world as elves the start of Operation Merry Christmas is a big, big day on the calendar. It is the day when everything starts to come together.

It is, in a way, a countdown to a countdown. It is the start of the final push before Christmas.

It begins right after Thanksgiving. It is when the real serious business of Christmas happens. From that point forward it’s all Christmas, all-the-time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It’s go time. It’s time we make the magic happen.

When we go to work on that day after Thanksgiving there are clocks everywhere. They show the date and how many days, hours, minutes and seconds are left until Santa’s launch.

The goal is to get it all done by the time Santa takes off.

It is harder to do it than you think. We plan all year long, we do things in far in advance as we possibly can and we try to think of every little thing that could hold us back. Try as we might, there are always last minute things that come up to cause problems.

That is why, when Santa launches, there are other sleighs in the skies and efforts being made to keep the workshop working and the other departments at the North Pole humming. Santa has roughly 36 hours to get around the world and sometimes we use those hours to get special projects finished before Santa delivers.

Sometimes we cut it a little close!

So this countdown is important. I’ll be checking in with you every step of the way for the next ten weeks. I’ll keep you up to date on where we stand in the countdown and will update you on some things that are happening here at the North Pole that could help – or hinder – the work of Operation Merry Christmas.

Consider it a bonus to the great Santa Updates that Elf Ernest always gives us!
