New Year

Surprise! It is a new year at the North Pole and I’m still here after all. I am SO excited!

Every January, as you probably know, Santa and the big elves meet with all of us regular elves to talk about new goals. We discuss how things went last year and how we can do better in the new year. It is a fresh start, so to speak.

I was already told last month that my job would be changing. I was told I would be spending a lot more time at SantaTrackers.net. And I will be. I was also told that would mean giving up my work here, which I have loved.

Well, guess what? I don’t have to give this up. I get to continue doing my weekly countdown to Christmas here on SantaUpdate.com.

I’m so very excited about that. And I am excited for my new duties at SantaTrackers.net. I get to write, write, write and write. I love that.

But more about that later. Let’s talk about counting down to Christmas here.

I’m going to change things up a little bit here this year. It’s a new year. Time for a little remodeling, so to speak.

I will continue to countdown on a weekly basis. Those updates will happen every Saturday morning.

Why Saturdays? Well, Christmas Eve falls on a Saturday this year. That’s why.

But why does our countdown have to fall on the same day of the week as Christmas Eve?

Well, to be honest, it doesn’t. But I like it that way. Christmas Eve is the day of all days, especially here at the North Pole. I like being able to say that there are X-number of weeks to Christmas meaning that there are so-many weeks until that day of days. It’s just neater that way in this noodle of mine. Hope you don’t mind.

So, today is Wednesday and we’re in the middle of Week #52. I will officially start my countdown this Saturday as we approach Week #51…until Christmas Eve.

Got it?

Now, I know sooner or later one of you is going to comment about what happened to keep me writing here at SantaUpdate.com. Well, I’ll tell ya: I begged Elf Ernest to let me do it.

He’s older, wiser, smarter and he answers directly to Santa. He’s not an elf to mess with.

But he’s also a big softie. Really, a sweet sweet elf. And I just begged his grandpa-like sweet elfness to let me stay and he said yes because he knew if he didn’t say yes that I’d take it to Santa only I’d be mad and that Santa would give in and tell me to do it and that he’d talk to Ernest which meant I was going to be able to do it anyway. He just said I have to really work on my run-on sentences if I wanted to stay on.

Whatevs.

So, you’re stuck with me. And I have lots of big plans as we count down this year. I’m going to travel all over the North Pole, meet more elves and learn more stuff. Then I’m gonna come here and tell you about it.

What about you? What can I tell you about the North Pole you don’t already know? What do you guys want to hear about?

For you, my goal is to get you to comment more here on this website. I don’t want to be just writing stuff – I want to be be **talking** about stuff. That means you guys need to comment. A lot. Just do it in the forms below every post I make. Let’s talk, k?

Cool! I would like to hear about if there are any animal hospitals there that help other animals than just reindeer. If there are, could you tell me about them? If you have time of course.
