Tracker Elf Counts on the Rise

A monthly report from the Accounting Office at the North Pole indicates that tracker elf activity is starting to rise and that the count of tracker elves is going up in every sector.

“We’re gratified to see it,” said Elf Crash Murphy, International Director of Santa Trackers. “It’s been a busy first half of the year with so many changes to the program. Most of that work is behind us and all we need to do going forward is to focus on Santa’s needs for his flight”.

According to numerologist Elf Flip Beanz the Elf Supervisors will be releasing individual sector results for July sometime soon. But they are dealing with a difference in the way casual tracker elves out there are calculated. Instead of counting registrations they are taking their count from unsolicited submissions of tracking reports from unaffiliated fans and friends of Santa.

“There’s no such thing as a freelance elf anymore,” Elf Flip explained. “That change in the program gave us an opportunity to shift the focus to results, rather than mere the mere shadows from millions who called themselves freelancers but never did anything.”

Elf Crash Murphy was really surprised to hear that news.

“If that’s true, then it is really a fantastic result we saw in July,” Elf Crash observed. “It means we’re going to have a really strong tracking year if we’re ahead of last year’s numbers but calculating them so differently.”

The vast majority of tracker reports that stream into the North Pole come from believers in Santa.

“Those reports tell us quickly whether the person submitted it has given any time or thought to following the North Pole news,” Crash said. “So while we can get the numbers to go wiggy crazy saying we have all these millions of trackers out there the truth is that just a fraction of them were giving Santa good information. Everything we’ve done this year has been all about getting better information, not more of it. If the byproduct of that is a greater number of people out there tracking Santa for Santa, that’s great news!”

Even though July numbers were strong Elf Crash says the real shift in those tracking Santa does not happen traditionally until mid-October. We will see if that proves true.
