Children Policy Summary
We want children to be safe on our website. Here’s the short version of what that means:
- We’re legal. And we are serious about the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act.
- We’re designed to avoid personal contact with children
- North Pole Club Membership has to be purchased with a credit card, which we assume means ADULTS.
- Good behavior is expected. This is not the place to be naughty.
- Parents and Guardians are responsible.
- We cooperate fully with law enforcement.
Children Policy Details
- Design
- Santa Update is designed for children and families to enjoy together. We do not build it with the unaccompanied minor in mind. We vet all of our hand-crafted content to ensure it is safe and usable for minors. All images, all text, all information is thoroughly reviewed before publishing. We avoid contentious topic matters such as politics, gender identity, school choice, anything to do with race or religious. We DO promote values of honesty, integrity, kindness, decency and love. We expect parents and families to supervise their children.
- Function
- Our cookie policy is in place to ensure site functionality across all device types. These are necessary only for function. We do not collect information or user information for marketing purposes.
- Newsletters we offer are free but may contain advertisements for our other websites, products or services. Email addresses collected for these are used only for administration of the same, never shared or sold.
- Site memberships that offer added content and services require payments. We assume when payment is made that an adult has made the purchase. Gift memberships must be used in conjunction with established rules and policies.
- Online Use
- Santa Update offers many free North Pole related activities. Any forms set up that collect user information or allow for uploads of images, videos, audio files or other digital data require site registration and parental email submission on each feature. Parents will receive emails from us indicating that digital content was shared. We encourage parents to be involved in these activities. We send the email so that you can ask any questions or comments you feel are appropriate. We take these emails seriously.
- A paid membership is not required to use SantaUpdate.com. For 35-years Santa Update has been fee-free and non-commercial. You can enjoy all the same features we have always offered for free in the past. Introduced in 2026, the North Pole Club extends premium features that are new to Santa Update. These offerings and their proceeds go 100% to support the efforts of Santa’s Sleigh, an online Christmas community effort established in 2004 to help single parents and families in need at Christmas. The use of these features is optional for all site users.
- Paid memberships allow for full access of features at both SantaUpdate.com and SantaTrackers.net. Features that send mail or email, in Santa’s name or in the name of an elf, are agreed upon at sign-up.
- All interaction online via chats, messages, emails and the like are recorded in every instance.
- We encourage all users, children and adults, to use pseudonyms when setting up user profiles. This protects their real identity and we feel users are safe on our sites when they use them. However, when they duplicate the use of those same pseudonyms on 3rd-party venues such as social media, YouTube, etc we cannot guarantee or be held liable for whatever happens. For this reason we strongly encourage close parental guidance.
- Behavior
- Because interactive features are live, bans are usually instantaneous and irreversible.
- Hate speech, profanity and rude behavior of any kind will not be tolerated.
- Anti-Santa speech will not be tolerated.
- Online bullying of any individual will not be tolerated.
- Bans
- All bans are not permanent. Please contact us to discuss a ban and we will consider your appeal.
- Refunds will not be extended because of a ban.
- Memberships and Paid Services
- An adult must make purchases for their minor children and provide oversite during their use of those memberships.
- Memberships do not preclude users from the terms of use.
