Vixen Flies for the First Time This Year
North Pole Flight Command has reported good news from Santa’s Stables about the progress Vixen is making in recovery of surgery she had over the summer.
Today Vixen is having another workout, this time to see how she flies for the first time this year.
With less than three weeks to go until Christmas we are quickly approaching the time when Santa names both his starting team of reindeer as well as the backup team. Vixen is doing her best to keep her spot on the starting team.
It would be a very unusual occurrence if Vixen cannot fly for Santa this year. It would break a streak of 84 years Santa has running of using the same starting team of reindeer. It was 84 years ago that Rudolph joined the team and more than two centuries before that where reindeer of other names were used.

I didn’t know that his present reindeer team was started 84 years ago. I’m curious how Santa chose them, what happened with the previous reindeer then, and if they were already at the North Pole before Santa began to fly around the world! XD
