27 Weeks Until Christmas
Just 27 weeks until Christmas – and just a week away from Leon Day!

You get it, right? You know why they call it Leon Day?
Elf Ernest explains it every year. Given that we’re 35 years old here we should not have to explain it again.
But already the mail is coming in. What is Leon Day and how do I celebrate it?
Leon Day marks the halfway point to Christmas. 6-months behind us, and 6-months ahead. It’s the big marker. It’s all downhill from here on out to Christmas.
Anyways. For elves at the North Pole it is a fun and silly day. Leon is Noel spelled backwards. I think whoever made this up chose Noel because it’s easy to say backwards. I mean, we could not have a Eoteltism Day or Hplodur Day, could we?
And why backwards? Don’t ask me, it’s never made sense to me.
But not making sense of it is exactly what Leon Day is supposed to be about. Everything is backwards on Leon Day.
Elves talk backwards, walk backwards and even dress backwards on Leon Day. It’s totally bizarre and if I’m being honest I’ll tell you that it’s not my favorite day of the year.
People know I’m kinda ditzy with some things. And people who talk backwards make me feel absolutely dumb.
I have to think really hard to figure out what they are saying.
And I hate that.
I have a bad habit of some times talking too fast. My Daddy used to tell me at the dinner table, “Trixie, slow down – I can’t hear that fast!”
So when elves at the North Pole talk backwards on Leon Day I’m completely disarmed. I have to figure out what they are saying and then I can’t answer because I can’t figure out HOW to respond to them backwards.
It takes too long. It’s just too slow. So Leon Day is a day when I avoid talking to anyone because I don’t want to run into one of those backwards elf freaks who make me think too hard.
I guess I’ll just call my Daddy on Leon Day. I might talk too fast but at least we will understand each other.
Oh, hey! Thank you ALL so much for sending in your ideas about the rice toss at the wedding. So many great ideas.
Several of you mentioned chopped up carrots and things are really going in that direction.
Chef Elf Pierre Croissant has a sister, Clarice, who is also a chef and she knows this dude named Wesley Wonder (I swear I’m not making this up). Anyways, Mr. Wonder is in the freeze dried foods business and Clarice hooked me up and he told me they make freeze-dried super baby carrots and can even color them white to look just like rice. They are completely edible to reindeer and even healthy for them.
I’ve got samples coming soon, I’ll let you know.
If any of you have other ideas – like how to talk elf backwards – keep the suggestions coming!
See ya.

Thank you, Elf Trixie! I met Leon Day after I became a Santa tracker elf. I’m thinking about how to celebrate the day using the backward method.
Yes, the carrot shower is a great idea! I’m curious what Trixie and Mick’s favorite are. I think some chopped up fruit like apples is good, too if they like. It’s so much fun thinking for their happy wedding.
Thank you always. Have a great day and Merry Christmas! 🎄🥂🥕🍎🍑🦌💝🧑🎄
