27 Weeks Until Christmas
Hi guys, there are just 27 weeks until Christmas and you know what that means! It means next week we cross over into the 2nd half of the countdown and that we celebrate Leon Day.
Those who have followed along here at Santa Update over the years all know what Leon Day is and why we celebrate it.
It truly is a fun time, even if some of it is silly. Elves walking and talking backwards is as nuts as you think it would be.
But I’m not playing those games.
Nope, I’m working.
First of all, there’s my job as Chief of Staff for Mrs. Claus. She is kind of the party queen at the North Pole and what is Leon Day but a big party, eh? So there is a lot of stuff going on right now to get ready for all this.
Elves have been returning home from vacations. As was reported, they were charged with finding believers out there and learning about them. Did an elf interview you? Please let me know.
They are, as Santa requested, reporting on what they learned. And they are getting back to work.
The North Pole Post Office, Santa’s workshop, the elves working the Reindeer Barns, the sleigh teams and even the Wrapping Department are showing the usual signs of being busy.
But North Pole Flight Command? You know, the largest department at the North Pole?
Crickets.
That’s right. It’s still closed, all the lights off, and nobody is there.
Santa is still reportedly “working remotely” on test flights of the new, top-secret Santa’s sleigh for Christmas 2025.
Nobody I can find here can tell me about it. There isn’t even an elf I have talked to who will claim to have even seen it.
I contacted my friend, Elf Meg Nogg, who reports from Flight Command. She’s back from vacation but is – get this – locked out of her office at Flight Command.
She knows a little bit about what’s going on. Meg told me that Flight Command will open with light staffing next Monday, June 23rd. The Weather Department at Flight Command will open first. Then the Office of Reindeer Coordination will flip on the lights. Then the administrative offices of the North Pole Department of State, the Office of Licenses and Permits, and, yes, the Tracking Department of Flight Command will all be back at work.
But there will be nobody in the map room, none of the Sleigh Designers, and for sure none of Flight Controllers in Flight Command. And even though Leon Day is next week, it is NOT expected that Santa and whoever is with him working the test flights will be back.
In the meantime, just to keep her busy, I’ve sent Trixie, my world-class, expert Test Flight reindeer, over to the Angels-of-the-Sky Reindeer Flight School to work as an instructor. She is partnering with The Mighty Mick to work with the 1 year olds in flight training.
I know she’s really rather be out test flying the new sleigh. But her services are not needed yet and she needs to be busy.
So…stay tuned, I guess. I know Elves Frank and Crash are working on this story too and I’m sure they will have a North Pole Radio News Report or two coming soon.
Til then…we’re all in the dark.
Toodles.

Thank you, Elf Trixie! Happy Leon Day! I wish I could help Mrs. Claus with the party with you. How was it? Was Santa there? I hope Elf Roger is working with Santa remotely. I’m glad Trixie works at the Angels-of-the-Sky Reindeer Flight School with Mighty Mick. And the school name is so pretty and cool! I hope I can work for Santa’s reindeer someday.
I look forward to hearing the update from you and Elves Frank and Crash soon! Merry Christmas! 🎄🦌🛷🎅🫶
Happy Leon Day! Thank you for the updates. I’m Operation Merry Christmas seems to be running smoothly (although I’m looking forward to the test flight map being online)! I hope Trixie’s time as an instructor goes well (she’s a great reindeer and I’m sure the young reindeer will look up to her!) and that your work continues to go well!
Great update! Thank you for all the details and happenings thus far!
