21 Weeks Before Christmas

There are just 21 weeks left until Christmas. Are your cookies made yet? Your tree up? Your wish list for Santa written? Your stocking hung?

Those are the types of questions being asked here at the North Pole right now. People here just cannot believe that July is over.

In fact, we had a kind of freak storm blow through here the other day. The air got a little cold, it rained and when we woke up in the morning there was a light skiff of snow on the grass.

It made everyone wake up a little bit.

It was gone in a day but it was enough for everyone to look at the calendar.

We all know what time it is. Santa declared an end to Toyvember and while nobody expected that to last long nobody really thought much about how much work we have to do.

I can tell you that folks are sleeping in a little longer tonight as they anticipate getting back to work. Lunch pails are packed. We’re ready to rock.

I haven’t been around much because Mrs. Claus has had me working on all kinds of special projects during Toyvember. We haven’t been working on toys, we’ve been working on Christmas card lists, plans for a holiday food drive, and how to get letters answered at the North Pole Post Office.

In fact, in looking at Mrs. Claus’ calendar for the next three months I can tell you there won’t be a moment to spare.

She did tell me that she learned on North Pole Chat the other day that she needs to be talking to the people more. So I’m working with Elf Ernest to find time for Mrs. Claus to return to North Pole Chat a few more times before Thanksgiving. I’ll let you know what we work out.

In the meantime, keep yourselves happy and enjoying your summer. I know many of you will be heading back to school in just a few weeks. And before long the weather will be turning for you, too.
