Elf Hugo Discusses Messaging Santa
Elf Hugo, postmaster at the North Pole Post Office, came to North Pole Chat to discuss the many ways to message Santa. He talked about the new feature on SantaUpdate.com called Shout Outs, where believers who send in emails, texts and wish lists to Santa can check to see if he received them. He also talked about the Crisis in Santa’s workshop and how it is affecting the North Pole Post Office.

| Elf Hugo | We are making adjustments as every department is. The workshop is most important to be honest. |
| Elf Frank Myrrh | Is that your opinion or is that what you have been told? |
| Elf Hugo | Both. Santa has to deliver the toys. We all know that. |
| Elf Frank Myrrh | So how are you adjusting at the Post Office? |
| Elf Hugo | We are trying to rely on technology more than ever. |

| Elf Hugo | This week we launched Shout Outs, a way for someone sending an email, a text or wish list to see that Santa actually received it. We couldn’t do that without technology |
| Elf Frank Myrrh | Are believers still sending handwritten letters to the North Pole? |
| Elf Hugo | Oh yes, but not in as great of numbers as in the past |
| Dillearl | Yes |
| Elf Frank Myrrh | So they are using the websites and phones to message Santa? |
| Elf Hugo | Yes, very much so |
| Elf Frank Myrrh | Is that a good thing? |
| Elf Hugo | I think mostly, yes, it is. |
| Dillearl | Can i ask something? |
| Elf Hugo | But with it comes things we didn’t think about |
| Elf Frank Myrrh | Hold on Dillon |
| Elf Frank Myrrh | What things? |
| Elf Hugo | Well, they want instant responses. And Santa just can’t work that way. Today for example, Santa is taking children on his knee as they visit him. All day long. He can’t look at messages today |
| Elf Hugo | And people need to be patient with that. |

| Elf Frank Myrrh | Ok, Dillion, please ask your question |
| Elf Frank Myrrh | I’m wondering, Hugo, does Santa get more texts than emails? Or more wish lists? |
| Dillearl | I was just wondering if Santa Claus and Mrs Claus is coming to are party this year |
| Elf Frank Myrrh | Who is that question for, Dillon? |
| Elf Frank Myrrh | You’re talking about the party on the 17th? In West Valley? |
| Dillearl | Yes |
| Elf Hugo | Santa is getting more and more texts every day. It just never stops. |
| Elf Frank Myrrh | Elf Hugo is the post master at the North Pole. He likely doesn’t know the answer to that question, Dillon. But I remember Mrs. Claus saying something about it last time. |

| Elf Hugo | Yes, we organize Santa’s emails and then hand them over to his office staff. They have some sort of process they use with Santa |

| Elf Sugar Cookie | Hi, Elf Hugo! I usually send my letter to Santa (with my finalized wish list) around Thanksgiving. Would that be too late this year? I don’t want to make too much work for anyone either in the Post Office or the Workshop with everything going on this year. |
| Elf Hugo | Not many of them. Some he has his staff respond to, but most do not get an answer |
| Jayden01345D | Can I tell you what I want for Christmas? |
| Elf Hugo | Elf Sugar Cookie, that’s a very timely question |

| Elf Ulan | Elf Hugo, do you read all messages, I mean in the details? How can you find a spam? |
| Elf Hugo | No, it’s not too late, but I wouldn’t wait too long |
| Elf Frank Myrrh | Jayden, please wait until I call on you for a question. |

| Elf Hugo | I don’t read any messages. I delegate messages to where they should go. Every message or email or text that comes in gets classified by type and then there’s a process Santa uses to get through them. |

| Elf Hugo | On the crisis in the workshop, we have to pass it off to the News Department. They have more answers that we do on that one. |

| Elf Hugo | Jayden, I am postmaster at the North Pole Post Office. I direct all the mail for Santa and everyone at the North Pole. |
| Elf Frank Myrrh | Is that the thing you get most questions about right now? |
| Jayden01345D | And elf Hugo or elf frank has Santa Claus had any baby reindeers or anything lately and having people help name him |
| Elf Hugo | Believe it or not, Frank, no. Most questions are about Santa himself. |

| Elf Hugo | The baby reindeer thing is very active, yes. We receive a record number of submissions every day right now. I’m guessing the reindeer games are bringing attention to the fact there are so many baby reindeer at the North Pole this year |
| Elf Ulan | Thank you, Elf Hugo. I thought you receive a tons of messages this year, so its hard to check it’s spam or original. |
| Elf Hugo | We actually get very little spam. We get jokesters who send mail to us – but not really a lot of spam |

| Elf Hugo | The most common question? Right now, it’s “What time will Santa get to my house?” |

| Jayden01345D | I like building snowman and stuff |
