45 Weeks Until Christmas

45 Weeks Until Christmas

Hi everyone! There are now just 45 weeks until Christmas.

Christmas Countdown

Santa has been a little under the weather. Mrs. Claus had his office clear his calendar and she has kept him at home eating soup for the past week.

I understand he’s getting restless, however. He’s asked me over to their house later today to “help him” with something.

I cannot imagine what it can be. Santa has the help of many elves all the time. What could I possibly do that no one else can?

I’ll keep you posted.

Life here at the North Pole is moving pretty fast these days.

Over at the North Pole Flight Command there have been two teams that have already been extremely active. The Sleigh Committee has been putting in time deliberating what Santa’s sleigh will look like this year. And the Regional Tracking Center has started their work looking for new locations for Operation Merry Christmas this year.

I don’t have anything to do with either of those projects. But many elves are talking about them.

You know what else is being talked about?

There’s a rumor going around that the Valentine’s Day Ball at the North Pole this year will feature a surprise guest.

The Valentine’s Day Ball is actually a very formal affair. That’s kind of unusual for the North Pole because our parties tend to be festive and creative. The Valentine’s Day Ball has rules.

You see, Santa and Mrs. Claus are romantics. They believe in traditional things when it comes to love.

When a man wants to marry a woman, he asks her father for her hand. Men are expected to open doors for women and treat them with the utmost respect. Of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus model this kind of behavior all the time.

So the Valentine’s Day Ball comes with certain formal rules. The men will wear a tuxedo. The women will wear long gowns. The dancing is very old fashioned and some elves, especially the nervous men, will even take some dance lessons ahead of the Valentine’s Day Ball just so they know how to waltz.

Men are expected to forward a formal invitation to the Ball. Women will wear a corsage. Usually there is a very fancy dinner that precedes the Valentine’s Day Ball and Santa and Mrs. Claus always have the first dance.

That’s all happening this week. Everyone, especially elves who like each other, are really nervous and excited in the days leading up to the Ball.

And yes, I’m going. I’m wearing a pale blue gown made by Elf Violet, who works in the uniform department at the North Pole. She a very well known elf for her seamstress skills. I had my final fitting for my gown yesterday and Mrs. Claus just went crazy for it.

I get a different gown every year and because I’m a girl I like that. I now have a nice little collection of gowns I have purchased and have made over the years. I will never get rid of them because I love them.

Mrs. Claus went with me because she does not get a new gown every year. She wears the same gown every year. It’s a flowing deep red gown with white trim and she looks stunning in it. With her beautiful white hair Mrs. Claus just looks so perfect.

With such a look you’d think Santa would wear his Santa suit but he does not. He wears a very formal black tuxedo with his shiny black dress shoes. Very sharp.

Santa and Mrs. Claus love the Valentine’s Day Ball. As the leading couple at the North Pole they get excited for this event every year.

I will tell you how it goes in my next update.

Cheers to you.
