6 Months Until Christmas

Merry greetings from the North Pole. Happy Leon Day, it is officially six months until Christmas!

Countdown to Christmas with Elf Ernest

Leon Day, as you know, is a big marker the elf calendar at the North Pole. It signifies the halfway point to Christmas, and the return of elves from all their off-season vacations.

It really means that Operation Merry Christmas is in full swing.

At the first of the year, Santa sat down with all department heads and set goals. Those department heads in turn sat down with every elf and mapped out the year. All of us – elves who work for Santa – have very specific things we were to accomplish before Leon Day. And now that Leon Day is here, we will be reviewing in even greater detail of what we need to get done between now and when Santa launches.

So, no matter what you read on our pages about all the fun and silliness of Leon Day or of the weeks ahead with Christmas in July, please understand that the serious business of Christmas is moving forward.

At the six month mark I can tell you some things about the efforts so far. For example, we know that Santa’s workshop is far ahead of where they were last year at this time. Elf Bernard is quite embarrassed about what happened in the workshop last year and he’s determined not to have a repeat of that this year.

Over at the North Pole Post Office, Elf Hugo says the mail is flowing smoothly and that so far, even though it is fairly early in the year, mail for Santa is up 33% so far. Elf Hugo predicts it will be a pretty heavy year for mail at the North Pole.

You know all about Santa’s new sleigh and the progress on that project by North Pole Flight Command.

In fact, this is the week when other departments are getting up to speed on Santa’s new sleigh.

The Logistics Department, which is kind of an extension of Santa’s workshop, is meeting this week to discuss loading and re-loading of Santa’s sleigh in flight. That’s highly technical stuff and it’s my understanding it is changing a great deal this year. Santa is leading those meetings himself.

The Reindeer Operations Department have business with the Test Flight teams as well. More and more reindeer are coming in early this year – some say it’s because they will be involved in the big wedding plans set for late August – but others say all the new stuff with Santa’s sleigh is part of it as well. There could be some truth to that rumor because Donner and Blitzen were recently recalled to work that project.

And North Pole Flight Command just announced that the North Pole Navy has deployed in support of the test flights. So those test flights are keeping a lot of people busy these days.

Please stay tuned for more reports in the coming weeks as we celebrate Christmas in July at the North Pole.

Thank you, Elf Ernest! Happy Leon Day! I’m curious about how the elves at the North Pole are enjoying the day. Does some elf on a scooter pull a reindeer on the sleigh? It’s so fast until Christmas that I think. I hope Santa’s meetings with the Departments went well and will be great this Christmas. I want to say to Elf Bernard that it was not his fault. I know he and all the elves tried their best, so it made Santa set a new record. Oh, did they already send their wish lists to Santa? I wish Santa… Read more »
