19 Weeks Until Christmas

There are now only 19 weeks until Christmas! There’s just something about getting past the number 20 that makes the time seem really short.

Countdown to Christmas

A shortage of time is exactly what people here at the North Pole are feeling. Especially at Santa’s Workshop.

When I reported last week that Santa’s workshop is behind it unleashed not only a flood of emails and messages from you, my dear readers, but also from other elves here at the North Pole.

For example, the guys in the Reindeer Department, despite what you’ve read in the news about them getting ready for the return of Santa’s reindeer, reached out to Elf Bernard offering to help out in Santa’s Workshop.

Nice, right?

Well, Elf Bernard didn’t exactly take it that way. As elves we can sometimes be a little defensive and maybe a little territorial and perhaps just a wee-bit sensitive about our work. Elf Bernard immediately said no to their offer and some elves in the workshop got upset and started saying things like, “How would they like it we went over there and told them how to take care of reindeer?”

Well, the elves in the Reindeer Department didn’t mean it that way.

Someone said something to Elf Bernard, and then he called a meeting, and soon apologies were said and the elves in Santa’s workshop sent pizza over to the guys working at Santa’s stables.

The seasons are changing and we all feel it. Here at the North Pole, our weather has already changed. We get snow a couple of times a week now. The weather has a way of influencing how we feel about things and I’m telling you the fall weather here has us all feeling like we need to be super busy.

So things literally are cooking.

Over in the Wrapping Department they are working at top speed because Santa’s workshop is working at top speed. Elf Harriet told me they can barely keep up with what Elf Bernard and team are putting out right now.

Are they behind? No, but they took the production realities of Santa’s workshop to heart. The Wrapping Department knows all too well what it means when and if Santa’s workshop gets behind.

The North Pole Post Office, normally not super busy in August, is – guess what? – SUPER busy.

Elf Hugo says he’s running about 32% ahead of last year when it comes to mail.

Why?

He’s not sure. He thinks some of it may be driven by the job we’re doing in the North Pole News Department but he thinks it is more that people are feeling more connected with Christmas this year.

Hugo says that the countdown this year has been really something that more people follow than usual. People are watching that clock and that causes them to do things like send in wish lists to Santa and to hang their stockings.

We all feel that too. Back-to-school is going on out there and that always changes things for all of us here at the North Pole. We get more mail, more questions and greater interest in the news of Santa.

So, if you’re just joining us for this year to countdown to Christmas, welcome. We’re glad we’re here. To catch you up, there’s nothing really wrong. All the normal things are happening.

The test flights of Santa’s sleigh are going. The reindeer, except for those on the test flight teams, have not returned quite yet but we expect them at any time. We have lots of candy canes and eggnog being made and stored up for Christmas. Mrs. Claus is teaching cookier making workshops. You know – all the normal stuff is going on.

So you haven’t missed anything.

But the news is coming out faster every day. Christmas is coming. And we’re getting Christmas busy. We hope you’re here for the duration.

Thank you, Elf Trixie! 19 weeks until Christmas! So faster this year. Every elf in all of the departments at the North Pole has excellent skills, so I believe that they can help each other. Wow, it’s already snowy there! I pray they can stay comfortable, safe, and that everything will go well. Our tracker elves can help them, too. Merry Christmas! 🎅🎁🦌
