Snowy Thanksgiving Day Elf Parade
As predicted the weather at the Thanksgiving Day Elf Parade was quite snowy.
But with the redirection plans made by the Parade Committee to specifically deal with weather challenges things did not exactly go to plan.
Heavy snow last night meant crews were out early trying to clear the parade route. Organizers cleverly embedded a “legion” of elves pushing snowblowers into the parade to help keep things clear.
What they didn’t count on was that going downhill in snowy conditions proved more difficult than going uphill.
Traditionally the parade has been routed uphill as doing so gave the parade a kind of competitive quality that the elves enjoyed.
But the Parade Committee changed it to downhill this year to make it easier.
The parade route changes also had the parade ending at North Pole High School, which was great for the North Pole High School Marching Band, but not for many others, who had to find their way back in the snow and uphill to the North Pole Events Center for the planned luncheon.

Thank you, Elf Frank and Elf Crash! Happy Thanksgiving! I’m glad to hear that the parade was held. I hope no one got injured there. Going down the hill on snow sounds hard. I’m curious what costumes the sumo wreslers wore, and they are all elves or not. The marching band was wonderful! I hope they had special hot meals after the parade. Were Santa and Mrs. Claus there? I hope the elves at the Workshop were able to enjoy watching the live video.
