Understanding Stocking Mail
Stocking mail always brings a lot of questions. It could be because we only use stocking mail when Santa allows us on Christmas Eve.
What is stocking mail?
It is a one-way communication service. When Santa gives the signal to use stocking mail there is one thing that happens: You put your note or message to Santa into your stocking and it instantly gets forwarded to Santa.
That’s it. That’s all it is.
It seems like a simple idea. And it seems like we should be using it all the time, right?
Not according to Elf Hugo, postmaster at the North Pole Post Office.
Stocking mail has a lot of problems. The technology behind it isn’t perfect.
How so?
Well, it appears to work less than 100%, which is a real problem with Santa. Some people get great results with it, others don’t.
With stocking mail it is impossible to see when your message was received. There is no way to see “signal strength. And, of course, stocking mail can only be received – Santa has no way to respond when someone sends things to him.
Despite these challenges Santa usually approves the use of stocking mail at some point on December 23rd and December 24th. It’s fast, it’s cheap, and it does send message directly to Santa.

Okay, I’ll wait until Santa approves it. I’m so excited about Santa’s launch! I hope people send messages to Santa online as they can this year, so that it helps the North Pole Post Office and Santa’s Workshop situation.
