Reindeer Virus Spreads; Lionel Works on a Cure

Elf Dr. Lionel P. Spock has been working around the clock since Dasher got sick to determine what is affecting all of the reindeer here at the North Pole.

When I checked in with Elf Victor this morning he said the number of sick reindeer has risen up to almost 500. There may be hope though. Dr. Spock has announced that earlier this morning he found a strange new virus in a shipment of hay. I sat down with Dr. Spock shortly after the announcement.

“I’ve never seen anything like this virus before.” Elf Lionel told me. “I’ve sent samples out to labs around the world to see if anyone can help me determine exactly what it is and how to treat it. I’ve instructed Elf Victor to destroy all of the hay we have here at the North Pole and to order new hay from a different supplier. Not all of the hay we had was infected but it is better to be safe than sorry.”

“We are also working right now to determine whether all of the sick reindeer came into contact with the infected hay or if the virus is contagious and spreading from reindeer to reindeer. Right now all of the sick reindeer have come from one building so it is hard to tell. We are hoping to figure this entire thing out in the next couple of hours before the problem gets any worse.”
