Vixen Scores an Upset

Vixen continues to surprise at the Reindeer Games where, for the third day in a row, she upset her competitors in the hard pull competition.

This game, featuring a single reindeer pulled a heavily load sleigh, is traditionally an event favoring the much-larger reindeer such as Blitzen and Donner. In fact, for the past 27 years only Donner and Blitzen have won this event. The event is a crowd favorite because of the good-natured competition of Santa’s anchor reindeer.

But both Blitzen and Donner were upset this year in the event that was televised all over the North Pole. And, once again, the crowd rose to their feet in appreciation, giving Vixen a standing ovation for the 2nd day in a row.

These games take a break tomorrow, but heading into Monday’s competition Vixen is clearly the favorite.

Donner and Blitzen are only slightly behind her and either could catch her if they can secure some wins in the days ahead. Rodrigo, the rookie, is pacing very well and he could still surprise if his performance continues to go as well as it has. As part of the rookie-class the two year old is on a slightly different schedule and has the challenge of having to win qualifying events to get to point-level competition. But he’s getting through that process very well and is still in position to surprise if he can keep this up.
