The Thanksgiving Day Elf Parade Committee met today to discuss plans for this year’s parade. The debate, as always, seems to be on what to do when the weather goes back.

Parade Committee Meets

It’s not if the weather goes bad. It goes bad every year. But the parade must go on, as they say. And the Committee likes to debate that.

Elf Seymour Snow, head weather elf at the North Pole, was asked for his long range forecast in his appears before the Committee today. Seymour said that he expects there to be a 100% chance of snowy weather.

Upon hearing that report some of the committee members suggested a “snow shoes and snowmobiles” theme to this year’s parade.

There was some support for that idea.

The sticking point was the fact that for generations the parade has always been a showcase for elf bicycles. Elves love to decorate their bicycles and show them off in the parade.

That’s a big problem for two reasons: it’s hard to ride a bike in snowy weather and the parade goes up the big hill on Main Street at North Pole village.

Mrs. Claus sent Elf Trixie, her chief of staff, to represent her at the committee meeting. Trixie suggested that elves should walk the parade route – in costume, as usual – but to keep the bikes indoor at the Arena, where the North Pole hockey team plays.

Trixie suggested that people would enjoy a bike show indoors more than a bike parade outdoors.

Committee member Elf Chester immediately protested the idea. “What’s the different of making people be in snow and ice outside versus making them walk on ice inside?”

No decisions were made at the committee meeting so they will meet again in a couple weeks to see if a set plan can be agreed upon.

At that time it will likely be announced that elves from all over the world will be able to participate in the Thanksgiving Day Elf Parade by sending in their videos and images of their costumes and decorated bikes to SantaUpdate.com.
