What Santa Wants You to Know About Your Christmas Tree

On the first busy weekend of Christmas we have a tradition of talking about the importance of the Christmas tree, tips for it from Santa in the home and ways you can keep it an important part of your Christmas.

North Pole

This annual reminder comes directly from Santa. I spoke to him early this morning and he reminded me that we need to make this post today. This Santa Update, I guess you could say, comes from Santa himself.

Why?

Because the Christmas tree is more than a decoration.

Here at the North Pole we have Christmas trees everywhere. They are not in just every home. They are in every office, in every store and shop, and in public places everywhere. They are always festively decorated and lit.

In fact, even the shape of a Christmas tree is everywhere here at the North Pole. All of our traffic signs are Christmas tree shaped. Kringle Park in the middle of North Pole Village is full of Christmas trees and is shaped like a Christmas tree.

The Christmas tree is a symbol. It has meaning.

First of all, it is a tree – a living thing in reality that has roots that go deep. This is symbolic of remembering, honoring and cherishing Christmas past.

It reaches high for the sky, symbolizing Christmas yet to come. It means keeping traditions of Christmas alive, of being grateful, and of looking to the skies for Santa.

The tree itself is green in color first. Yes, other colors of the tree and in the tree are okay, but the essential and meaningful color is a deep green, which symbolizes hope and eternity.

Santa says your Christmas tree can inspire you and others all season long. We bring it into our homes and give our trees a prominent spot. In front of it we gather together to play, sing, laugh and do things together.

It becomes a member of the family. Therefore, it deserves a name. What do you name your Christmas tree?

For Santa, he told me this morning that one of the best things of his job is that when he flies on Christmas Eve he gets to see everyone’s Christmas tree and place gifts beneath it.

He loves doing that. Each tree, he tells me, is as individual as each of us. All of them are beautiful. All of them teach of giving and of love.

Santa, when he has time, likes to take pictures of Christmas trees when he flies around the world. And we, as elves, love to see pictures of them.

Would you like to share your tree with us this year? Tell us all about it below. Maybe we will put together a collection of pictures we receive and share them with everyone!
