36 Weeks Until Christmas

Hi guys! There are 36 weeks until Christmas.

I’ve got reindeer on my mind. My reindeer – Trixie. She’s getting married and there’s a big wedding date we’re working on.

Trixie is marrying The Mighty Mick, as you well know.

Mick is actually back, at work at the Kringle Reindeer Center. He’s working with this year’s class of newborns. Well, he will be, starting next month when many of them start to arrive at the North Pole.

Trixie is home with me right now but she is scheduled to leave for training with the test flight reindeer next week. They are supposed to begin test flights of Santa’s new sleigh the first week of June.

That means we do not have a lot of time to put together this wedding. Or to even have a wedding. The wedding is tentatively scheduled the last week of August.

I say “tentatively scheduled” because that is usually a very busy time of year for all reindeer. But Trix and Micks, as we like to call them now, just do not know when else to schedule this thing.

A wedding for reindeer is not a normal thing. Normally when reindeer “marry” there is not a big event like this. But as you know Trix and Micks are not just regular reindeer.

All summer and into late fall Trixie is supposed to stay with the test flight team. Technically that duty can end when the Reindeer Games begin, which is sometime in October, usually. But that’s full season for Mick, where he is working with reindeer training.

The only true downtime for reindeer to get married comes after Christmas and Trix and Micks don’t want to wait that long.

I don’t want them to wait that long either.

I have feelings about all this but these decisions are not up to me. It’s up to them. I just want to celebrate with them and get ready for whatever comes next in their story.

It’s quite a story, isn’t it?

It’s a good distraction right now. The sleigh debate over at North Pole Flight Command is starting to get on my nerves. A lot of elves are unhappy about that whole situation.

So distractions are good.
