5 Months Until Christmas

Christmas

Greetings, friends! There are 5 months until Christmas. Can you believe how fast it is all going?

Santa Update

That is on my mind a lot as we pass this marker in our Christmas Countdown. Five months is not a lot of time and from where I’m sitting here at the North Pole there are a great many things to do.

But we’re stalled. Santa called for Toyvember a little more than a week ago and that just stopped a lot of things for us.

While elves are at home dreaming up and designing new toys – and Santa believers around the world are dreaming of toys to come on Christmas morning – most of the work that goes into making, packing and distributing those toys has come to a halt.

Well, not everything. The test flights of Santa’s sleigh continue. The North Pole Post Office is still working. And those in the North Pole News Department are on the job too.

But right now, as we normally call it, Operation Merry Christmas is largely still.

Toyvember is great and I love it. But I’m not going to lie – I told Santa doing Toyvember in July is a big mistake.

After all, we’re just getting a handle on what people want for Christmas. Santa’s workshop has been working because they know, after all these years, just what the basics are that the world wants in Santa’s sack come Christmas. So good progress has been done on the usual stuff of Christmas: footballs and baseballs, baby dolls and buggies for them, frisbees and crayons. Yes, if Santa had to deliver only the basics we’d be in good shape.

But we all know that most people are just now thinking of what they want for Christmas. As they think they send in wish lists. As the wish lists start coming in Santa starts making lists of his own. From those lists he makes toy orders for the Workshop. And they work around the clock nearly every day up to launch time trying to produce what those lists require.

Santa did his best to tell me – and by extension, YOU – not to worry. He does not plan to make this a long Toyvember.

I looked it up.

The last time there was a Toyvember at the North Pole was three years ago. That’s about right. Santa usually calls for Toyvember about every three to four years.

Back in 2022 the Toyvember lasted nearly 3 months – from March until about the end of May. That’s the usual time a Toyvember lasts.

If use that as a marker, this Toyvember will end sometime in October.

There’s no way we can do that. There is no way that Santa’s Workshop can be idle all that time and be ready for Christmas.

We couldn’t get the reindeer ready, the sleigh ready, the stockings made, the presents wrapped – none of it could get finished in time before Santa’s launch if this is like a typical Toyvember.

Just between you and me, Elf Bernard is freaking out.

I checked on him.

I went over the Santa’s Workshop and found one lone light turned on. It was Bernard, at a workstation, building toys.

Alone.

By himself.

I felt so sad for him. I told him, of course, that Santa knows what he is doing. And, of course, Elf Bernard knows that.

But he’s one worried elf right now.

I’m not saying YOU need to worry. As I told Bernard, Santa’s on it. Things will be fine.

I’m just used to knowing the plan, working the plan, and feeling good about things.

And right now I’m not sure about the plans. It feels to me like we should be doing a lot more stuff than just thinking about new toys.

I might just have to talk to Santa again.

Until next month, friends.

[…] Just four months remain now until Christmas and what a difference a month makes. It was just last month at this time that I mentioned that Operation Merry Christmas was kind of stalled due to […]

Thank you. If I’m being honest, I’m getting worried about this. But I’m sure Santa has it figured out. If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.

Thank you, Elf Ernest! Wow, it’s faster, especially this year! I’m so sorry I missed your last chat. I’ve already proposed some ideas for toys. I hope it makes sense. Yeah, I understand how busy Elf Bernard will light now, but he can arrange to work simply and smoothly. If they pick one of my ideas, I can make it simple and keep it nicer. I hope everything is going well. Santa told us that because he believe in us to do it! Happy Christmas in July!

Only 5 months until Christmas! That sure isn’t very long to get things done. I can see why Elf Bernard is worried. Im making gifts for family this year and I’m just getting started. I guess I better get moving. So excited to be tracking Santa for my second year. Not to worry I know Santa and Mrs Clause will have everything under control. Merry Christmas 🎄

Once we get past Leon Day, that’s when I really start looking forward to next Christmas. Hard to believe we are less than five months away! I even bought a few very early presents a few weeks ago. I really pick up my shopping after Labor Day. Can’t wait!!
