32 Weeks Until Christmas

Hi ho! There are just 32 weeks left to go until Christmas. And even less time until the wedding.

You see, we now have a date: August 29th is the day. That’s when my reindeer Trixie gets married to the Mighty Mick.

You would not believe everything that has gone into just getting this date in place. It’s going to change everything, including when the reindeer come back to the North Pole.

For the first time, well, ever, we have a good idea they are all coming back that week – the week of the wedding! Usually it’s a guessing game. But not this year.

Once word spread that Trix and Micks were getting married everyone told us they wanted to be here for it.

It’s making a lot of people happy. But it’s also making for a lot of adjustments at the North Pole.

For example, the Test Flight Sleigh Team.

Trixie, as you well know, is a test flight reindeer. She wants the week of the wedding off, and what girl wouldn’t? For her to get that week off right in the middle of test flight season – well, that means a lot of people have to move things around.

So the entirety of North Pole Flight Command – from the air traffic controllers to the test pilots to the Sleigh builders – EVERYBODY – is looking how the whole summer has to shift their schedule, just so Trix can get that day off.

And poor Micks.

You see, if the reindeer come back to the North Pole the week of the wedding that makes it extra hard on him. You see, the reindeer when they come back all have to have medical evaluations. It’s a huge job for the staff at the Kringle Reindeer Center to do that every year. Guess who is the team lead for that project every year? Yeah, that’s right, The Mighty Mick.

I have been talking to Big Sled Ted. He’s working on a plan. He has told me not to stress about Micks. Big Sled Ted is certain he can take the load off of Micks so that he can enjoy the wedding.

But….now that the wedding date is out there, of course, all the efforts of the Reindeer Operations Department are centered on that date. So they’ve changed up their schedules, and ordered in extra supplies, and already scheduled elves for duty at certain times and in certain places.

And then, my mother called. She wants to come to the wedding with Dad.

Now, I understand. Whenever I visit my Mom and Dad in Colorado Trixie flies my sleigh and she stays there on the farm. My parents adore her. They know her well. It’s totally understandable Mom would want to be there.

But how do I get her here? Trixie is going to want to fly my parents here and to fly them home again. And she can’t do that! She’s the bride!

And what am I going to wear?!!!! Arrrrgh!

Mrs. Claus has said she will be my wedding assistant. Thank goodness. I’m already pulling my hair out.

Sooner or later we’re also going to have to get back to Christmas…and getting ready for it. Stay tuned.
