What Flight Command Does
Elf Roger Star and Elf Buck Sanchez visited North Pole Chat to talk about what North Pole Flight Command Does. It was an interesting chat that discussed Operation Airlift, the number of sleighs needed for that operation, how elves work for Flight Command and many other fascinating insights into flight operations at the North Pole.
Here is the transcript of that chat:
Elf Ernest | Our chat will begin at the top of the hour. |
Elf Ulan | Hi, Elf Ernest! |
Elf Ernest | Good evening, Elf Ulan. Or good morning…whatever it is! |
Elf Cookie Dough | hello |
Santa Fan3835 | It’s Sunday 23:51, so good evening! |
Elf Ernest | Hello Elf Cookie Dough! |
Elf Ulan | My iPad works slow today, too |
Elf Ulan | 3835 was me! XD |
Elf Ernest | Our chat today is about North Pole Flight Command. |
Elf Ernest | We will be talking today with Elf Roger Star, Director of Flight Command |
Elf Shine | good morning |
Elf Ernest | And with Elf Buck Sanchez, Flight Operations Director. |
Elf Ernest | We’re just waiting on Elf Buck to get here |
Elf Ernest | We will begin in about 2 minutes |
Elf Shine | Hi Elf Ernest,Elf Ulan |
Elf Ernest | North Pole Flight Command is the largest department at the North Pole |
Elf Ernest | It employs tens of thousands of elves |
Elf Shine | cool |
Elf Ernest | They coordinate all the flight operations, including Santa’s sleigh, from the North Pole Sleigh Port |
Elf Andri | so.. if an elf wants to work with flight command, helping with the logistics of things, a more statistical job, how would he do that? |
Elf Ulan | Okay! And Hi, Elf Shine |
Elf Ernest | They have their own website at NorthPoleFlightCommand.com |
Elf Ernest | And we get a lot of information from them for North Pole Radio News here at SantaUpdate.com |
Santa Fan3828 | hi |
Elf Shine | that okay |
Elf Chocolate Snowflakes | Hi |
Elf Ernest | Elf Roger, who has been with us in chat before, is the director. Elf Buck, who is NOT a frequent guest here but is sometimes heard on the Tracking Santa radio show, is with us today too. And you can ask them both questions. |
Elf Ernest | Roger, welcome! |
Roger Star | Thanks for having me again, Elf Ernest |
Elf Ernest | And Elf Buck, we’re glad you’re here too! |
Elf Buck Sanchez | Thank you. I hope to answer every question! |
Elf Ernest | Elf Buck, we put news out this week about Operation Air Lift. How is that going? |
Elf Ulan | Hi Elf Roger and Elf Buck! |
Elf Buck Sanchez | Operation Airlift is the largest operation of the year. Right now, we’re just getting started. |
Elf Ernest | How many sleighs will Operation Airlift this year use? |
Elf Buck Sanchez | Right now, and this could change, we’re at 14,575 sleighs – an all time record. |
Elf Ernest | Why so many sleighs? What do they do? |
Elf Shine | that is a lot |
Elf Buck Sanchez | These are mostly transport sleighs, moving presents from the North Pole to places around the world – those places we call transfer stations |
Elf Ernest | Why are they called transfer stations? |
Elf Buck Sanchez | Because the freight moves from here at the North Pole to a strategic place…and then from there to whereever Santa will be when he’s close by. They temporarily hold things |
Elf Ernest | So when do they begin moving…stuff? |
Elf Buck Sanchez | We start on November 30th for that part of the operation. |
Elf Ernest | What else do you move besides “stuff”? |
Elf Buck Sanchez | Elves |
Elf Ernest | Elves? What elves? |
Elf Buck Sanchez | Weather elves, scouts, observers, supervisors, et |
Elf Buck Sanchez | Wherever Santa needs an elf we give him a ride |
Elf Ernest | How long does Operation Airlift last? |
Elf Chocolate Snowflakes | Cool |
Elf Buck Sanchez | We run the operation until after Santa arrives home. We’re up in the air constantly sending out sleighs around the clock all the month of December |
Elf Ernest | So the sleigh port at the North Pole is one busy place! |
Elf Buck Sanchez | Very busy. |
Elf Ernest | Ok, folks, feel free to ask any questions you might have of Elf Buck and Elf Roger. |
Elf Ernest | Roger, it sounds like Elf Buck is all about keeping the sleighs in the air. What else does Flight Command do? |
Elf Shine | how do we that santa want to how many children in world? |
Elf Chocolate Snowflakes | Do you. Ever use the test version of the sleigh? |
Roger Star | We have charge of flight planning, tracking Santa, Santa trackers, elf training for flight operations, the testing of Santa’s sleigh, and dozens of other functions. |
Roger Star | Elf Shine – we work with the Records Department, which is run by Santa’s Office Staff, to keep track of locations of believers |
Elf Andri | so.. if an elf wants to work with flight command, helping with the logistics of things, a more statistical job, how would he do that? |
Elf Buck Sanchez | Elf Chocolate Snowflakes – the test versions of Santa’s sleigh are just for testing. Nobody uses them for anything else until they are decommissioned. |
Roger Star | Elf Andri – you mean, like a flight analyst? |
Elf Andri | yes! |
Elf Chocolate Snowflakes | Ok |
Roger Star | A flight analyst is a highly specialized job and it requires a lot of schooling and flight experience. So those things will need to be accomplished first |
Elf Ernest | Is it hard to get a job like that? Where do you find qualified elves? |
Elf Shine | how hard is to be apart of a north fight command |
Roger Star | Hard? I guess so. It just takes a long time. Most flight analysts are former sleigh pilots |
Elf Blaze | And who can be admitted? A North Pole elf? An online elf? |
Roger Star | Elf Shine, we have many kinds of elf jobs. From someone shoveling snow at the North Pole sleigh port to jobs of a highly technical nature like sleigh designer |
Roger Star | Anyone anywhere in the world can become an employee at North Pole Flight Command. It does help to live at the North Pole, though. |
Elf Shine | That is so cool |
Roger Star | We do have many thousands of online elves, as you call them |
Elf Andri | how can elves like me, remote tracker elves, get a technical job working for north pole flight command? |
Roger Star | We operate world wide so we need elves in every sector |
Roger Star | Elf Andri, the best thing to do if you want a job beyond being a remote tracker elf is to pick a specialty, like the weather. Go to school for that |
Elf Blaze | Ok. I know you probably get this question a lot, but when do elves move to the North Pole/ get promoted? And how would you explain this to your family, friends, and school/work? |
Roger Star | One of the reasons we have a Regional Tracking Center in each sector is because we need places for some Flight Command employees to work |
Roger Star | We also have elves staffed on ships of the North Pole Navy |
Elf Shine | is Elf pinkey part fight commed |
Elf Blaze | Ok. How do elves go to the North Pole Navy? |
Elf Ulan | Do all sleighs have Bells? |
Elf Ernest | Elf Blaze, elf work at the North Pole can happen in many ways. Santa, for example, can invite you here. That kind of happened to Elf Crash. |
Elf Buck Sanchez | Most sleighs have bells, Elf Ulan. Reindeer powered sleighs all have bells. Bells help reindeer fly together as a ream. |
Elf Andri | is there anything us tracker elves can do to help with operation airlift? |
Roger Star | GREAT question, Elf Andri. Yes, tracker elves are instrumental in Operation Airlift. Most just don’t know it. |
Elf Blaze | Cool! When does Santa typically invite people to come to the North Pole? And what does he look for when he does? |
Roger Star | We will send to your Elf Supervisor a request for certain information. Your Elf Supervisor then tells you what to do and file a report with that information. Just as a basic example, most weather reports right now are used for Operation Airlift. |
Elf Frosty McSnowflake | Wow! Intense chat so far! |
Elf Ulan | Thank you, Elf Buck! Do all Bells ring the same rhythm? |
Elf Blaze | Cool! Thanks for the answers! |
Elf Ernest | I don’t think there is anything “typical” about Santa inviting someone to the North Pole! |
Elf Chocolate Snowflakes | Coo! |
Elf Blaze | Ok! |
Elf Blaze | This has been very helpful! This is my first ever chat and I’m really enjoying it! |
Elf Ernest | But Elf Trixie got a scholarship to get her education at Southern North Pole University and then became an intern in the News Department. That’s how she got here from Colorado, for example. I just think it depends on who you are and what your story is. |
Roger Star | Elf crusader has an interest and some training in Zooology. He has a good shot at being invited to come to the North Pole. |
Elf Blaze | Â Cool! |
Elf Buck Sanchez | The bless typically move in a rhythm set by the motion of the reindeer, yes. But they are specially tuned – like a piano. It’s kind of a language for the reindeer when it all comes together. |
Elf Blaze | I didn’t know Elf Crusader had some experience in Zoology! |
Elf Ernest | Glad to hear it, Elf Blaze. |
Elf Ernest | There are many elves in the tracker community with great skills, talent and elf ambition. |
Elf Ernest | I would say that Elf Max has an excellent shot at being invited to the North Pole someday too. |
Roger Star | Elf Max – very good man! |
Elf Cookie Dough | i know i would never get invited to the north Pole the only talent I have is singing its the only thing I’m good at |
Elf Blaze | Elf Max doesn’t live in the North Pole?!?! |
Elf Buck Sanchez | Many do not know this but I got my start on the road to the North Pole after service in the US Air Force. |
Elf Blaze | Cool! Thank you for your service! |
Elf Ernest | No, Elf Max lives in Vancouver, BC – in Canada. |
Elf Buck Sanchez | Thank you. |
Elf Ulan | That’s cool! Is it possible to talk with the reindeer with the bells? |
Elf Chocolate Snowflakes | Cool |
Elf Ernest | Elf Buck, what did you do in the Air Force? |
Elf Blaze | Wow! He does so much for our website that I thought he lived at the North Pole! |
Elf Buck Sanchez | I was a helicopter mechanic at first, then an engineer after I got my schooling there. |
Elf Blaze | P.S. THANK YOU ELF MAX! |
Roger Star | Talking to the reindeer in flight is not really possible. However, Santa does shout commands to them from the sleigh and they understand. |
Elf Ernest | Elf Max is an extraordinary guy. He finished his degree last year after a very serious illness. |
Elf Ernest | We wouldn’t have SantaTrackers.net without Elf Max. |
Elf Blaze | Do the reindeer go to school to learn commands or does Santa know their language and is able to communicate with them? |
Elf Ernest | Folks, our time with Roger and Buck is about done. Any last questions for them? |
Elf Blaze | Oh no! I hope Elf Max has recovered! |
Elf Ernest | Your questions today have been AWESOME |
Elf Blaze | No, I don’t think so. Thank you for having this chat! |
Elf Buck Sanchez | Agreed. GREAT questions. |
Elf Ernest | Elf Max is doing well. |
Elf Blaze | That’s good! |
Elf Ernest | This has been an outstanding chat. Thanks for being here. |
Elf Shine | thanks for answering our questions |
Elf Ernest | Elf Roger, thank you. And Elf Buck, good luck with Operation Airlift. I hope we can continue to learn more about it |
Elf Ulan | Thank you, Elf Roger! I want to learn how to communicate with the reindeer. How about the pilots? How do they work with the reindeer? |
Elf Blaze | Of course! Thank you for being here as well and helping to answer questions! |
Elf Frosty McSnowflake | Thanks Elves! Great chat today! |
Elf Buck Sanchez | I’ll answer any questions at any time, Elf Ernest. Thank you everyone. |
Roger Star | Merry Christmas everyone! |
Elf Chocolate Snowflakes | What kind commands does Santa say? |
Elf Ernest | Thank you all, have a great day! |
Elf Blaze | Merry Christmas!! |
Elf Ulan | Thank you, and Merry Christmas! |
Elf Blaze | Thanks! |
