30 Weeks Until Christmas

Hi gang. Just 30 weeks now until Christmas!

You know, it’s kinda been like Christmas to me this week. It got to spend some quality time with “my” reindeer, Trixie.

As you may have heard, North Pole Flight Command just announced that test flights of Santa’s sleigh are going to begin next week.

Reindeer Trixie has been in town for about two weeks. She’s a test flight reindeer and a darn good one, if I say so myself.

The test flight reindeer are not like Santa’s A-team of reindeer. Santa’s team returns to the North Pole, trains in the last two months before Christmas and then flies with Santa on Christmas Eve.

The test flight reindeer work a lot more. For many months they work around the clock in teams putting that new sleigh through every kind of maneuver imaginable. A reindeer assigned to such a team has to be very athletic, work very hard, and able to endure very long days.

That’s my Trixie. She’s a trooper.

But I finally got some private time with her. At my home. She came home to our little barn and got to spend some time eating home food.

I didn’t take her anywhere. I just wanted her to relax and enjoy the peace of our little place.

We talked a lot, Trixie and I.

She’s grown up a lot. She’s not a youngster any more. She’s a mature reindeer. But she is so, so, so sweet. I just love her.

I know that once things get going next week it will be a long time before I get to see her again. She’s very dedicated. She worked hard to make that team and Trixie is absolutely devote to the job.

I understand it. But it means I do not get to see much of her.

So I have enjoyed this week.

I won’t share much more. I consider the time we spent together to be very private.

But I will say this: Trixie has had a lot of training. I’ve always known she has a pure heart but it seems with each year now that passes she becomes more and more magical to me. There’s a majesty to her.

All of Santa’s reindeer have that quality. It’s like their heart gets bigger than their bodies and you see that pride and that giving and that love in every step they take.

It is really something to see.
