2 Weeks Until Christmas

Hi friends! There’s just two weeks left until Christmas and I’ve had a see-saw day.

Countdown to Christmas

Mrs. Claus called me in to her office today to discuss what we’re going to be working on three weeks from now. It got me really sad, really quick. The meeting was only about thirty minutes but maybe I showed some of my disappointment. I was just feeling sad that it’s soon to be over.

She called me back in and said, “Let’s go make cookies!”.

Does this happen to you? Do you get down just thinking about Christmas being over?

It’s never happened to me before but it hit me today. So I’m going to enjoy the heck out of the next two weeks. Christmas all day, every day, every minute.

To help myself feel better I went over to the Reindeer Barn. I always go over there and seeing the reindeer always cheers me up.

I wanted to see Blitzen because he always cheers me up.

My first year at the North Pole it was Blitzen who made me a fan of reindeer. The first time I saw Santa’s reindeer I was kind of afraid of them, especially Donner and Blitzen. They are HUGE. Big, big, big reindeer.

Especially Blitzen.

I think I told you last week a little about Donner being the captain. And that’s true. Among the reindeer, Donner is in charge.

But Blitzen is also a leader. He’s quiet. He leads by example. He is so big that he intimidates just about anyone who sees him. But Santa loves him.

Blitzen is dependable. He always says yes to Santa. He never backs down from a challenge and there is nobody – and I mean nobody – not among the reindeer, not among the reindeer handlers, not among the elves – NOBODY – who doesn’t respect Blitzen. When you see him you just say “wow”.

My first year here at the North Pole Blitzen was trying to learn to speak human. Do you remember hearing that on North Pole Radio News? Golly, that made a lot of people laugh. But it nearly made me cry.

He tried so hard. Blitzen is a genius. He understands everything anyone says.

EVERYTHING. So why wouldn’t he want to learn to speak as we do? He worked and he worked and he worked. But he never quite got there.

I have a special relationship with Blitzen.

When I see him he tries to speak to me and sometimes he understands me. He can say “Hug” and “Santa” and “Kiss”. Sometimes he tries to say other words and I don’t understand him and I get frustrated and he LAUGHS at me.

Blitzen is a giant but he’s a gentle giant.

A very kind, loving soul.

If you ever see him or get to meet him do not be afraid. He just cannot stand it that people, especially kids, might be afraid of him. He would never hurt a soul.

Anyway, I wanted to see Blitzen today but he was gone with the other reindeer of Santa’s A-team – working on the test flights of Santa’s sleigh still. I guess with 2 weeks left even Santa’s reindeer need to be working.

But seeing the reindeer made me feel better, even if Blitzen wasn’t there. I don’t know when they are coming back to the North Pole but when they do I plan to give him a big hug.

To learn more about Santa’s reindeer and what they are doing please listen to the North Pole Radio News report in the player above.

hey guys

Thank you, Elf Trixie! You’re lucky to see Santa and Mrs. Claus anytime, even after Christmas, and we can start a new Operation Merry Christmas soon as long as Santa continues it. Elf Trixie is so sweet. I wish I could talk to Blitzen and all the other reindeer and hug them, too! Thank you, Elf Crash and Elf Frank. The test flights will finish soon! I want to thank the pilots, reindeer, engineers, and all staff for their hard work! Please take a break until Santa’s launch. Merry Christmas! XD

Wow! I am so jealous. I wish I could be there to see Santa’s reindeer and talk to Blitzen. Christmas is almost here and I am so excited. Merry Christmas 🎄
